Kilkenny One Parent Community Network Privacy Statement
Kilkenny One Parent Community Network respects your right to privacy and complies with our obligations under the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU 2016/679).
The purpose of this Privacy Statement is to inform you of how we deal with any personal data you may provide us with.
We will not collect any personal information about you without your clear permission. Any information, which you submit will be treated with the highest possible standards of security and confidentiality.
Who is Involved?
Kilkenny One Parent Community Network is a small group of Volunteer Peers who are advocating for one-parent families and are assisting in the work to build a community of one-parent families in Kilkenny.
Data Controllers: Kilkenny Leader Partnership and Kilkenny County Council are joint Data Controllers for the Kilkenny One Parent Community Network.
Data Processors: Fr Mc Grath Family Resource Centre and Kilkenny One Parent Community Network will process your information and will keep your data secure.
What type of information do we hold?
Personal Data
This is data that identifies you or can be used to identify or contact you. This can include some sensitive information, such as; your name, address, email address, telephone number, employment status. Such information is only collected from you if you voluntarily submit it to us.
Non-Personal Data
Like most websites, we gather statistical and other analytical information collected on an aggregate basis of all visitors to our website. This Non-Personal Data comprises information that will not be used to identify or contact you, such as demographic information regarding, for example, user IP addresses where they have been clipped or anonymised, browser types and other anonymous statistical data involving the use of our website.
Purposes for which we hold your Information
Non-Personal Data:
We use the Non-Personal Data gathered from visitors to our website in an aggregate form to get a better understanding of where our visitors come from and to help us better design and organise our website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
- Personal Data
We will process any Personal Data you provide to us as directed for the following purposes:
- To update you on events, for example via email or newsletter
- To respond to any communication you might send to us including emails, private messages and letters
- To add you to our member’s database, with your consent
Any personal data communicated whether it be via online (social media private message), email, in person, or over the phone will be treated as confidential. Access to the email and social media accounts are restricted to authorised KOPC Network members who are aware of their obligations under GDPR and have received training and instruction on GDPR best practice.
Mailing list
When you subscribe to The Kilkenny One Parent Communities mailing list, your email address is not shared with any third parties, and you can unsubscribe from the list at any time.
- Disclosure of information to third parties
Personal data will not be disclosed to any third parties. Data Controllers; Kilkenny Leader Partnership & Kilkenny County Council and the Data Processors; Fr McGrath Family Resource Centre & Kilkenny One Parent Community Network will have access to information that you may share
Kilkenny One Parent Community Network’s confidentiality policy is in line with best practice, and ‘Children First’ National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children’ (Department of Children and Youth Affairs, 2011).
We may disclose your Personal Data if we believe in good faith that we are required to disclose it in order to comply with any applicable law, a summons, a search warrant, a court or regulatory order, or other statutory requirement or if we believe that to disclose your personal data would prevent injury to you or another person.
- Security
We will take all reasonable steps (including appropriate technical and organisational measures) to protect your Personal Data.
- Legal Basis:
The legal basis for processing personal data is contained in the following legislation: Article 6 (1) (a) and (e)GDPR – the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes and/or the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. Where the processing is carried out based on the consent you have the right to withdraw that consent.
- Updating, verifying and deleting personal data
You are in control of how we use your data, and you have the right to ask us to stop processing your personal information. You also have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you.
You are also granted a number of additional rights under data protection legislation, which are outlined below:
- Where we are processing data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent by email to Amanda De Burca, Community Development Worker, Kilkenny Leader Partnership; amanda.DeBurca@cklp.ie. All necessary steps will be undertaken to delete your information within 4 weeks of the request to withdraw your personal information.
- You have the right to change your personal information if it is incomplete or inaccurate.
- You have the right to request the deletion or removal of your personal information in certain circumstances, including where it is no longer necessary for us to hold it for the purposes for which we are processing it.
- You have the right to restrict our processing of your data if there is disagreement about its accuracy or legitimate usage.
- You have the right to move, copy or transfer your personal information easily and safely from one IT environment to another, in some circumstances.
- You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (as described above) including profiling activity, and “direct marketing”.
Please note that these rights are not exercisable in all circumstances. For example, personal data might not have to be erased if it is needed in the interests of public health or to support legal claims, compliance with statutory retention requirements.

- Right to Complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the response you received from Kilkenny One-Parent Community in relation to your request, then you are entitled to make a complaint to the Data Protection Commissioner who may investigate the matter for you.

- Records Retention Policy
Kilkenny Leader Partnership and Kilkenny County Council have adopted The National Retention Policy. These policies outline the timeframe for which your personal data will be retained by the Council and what will happen to it after the required retention period has expired.
- Changes to the KOPC privacy policy
Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted on this website so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
